For Rescues
Rescue Partner Agreement
Network Listing Terms and Partner Standards
About This Agreement
The Bull Terrier Rescue Network exists to connect people with qualified, trustworthy rescues that can place bull terriers safely. When a rescue is listed on BTRN, it carries an implicit endorsement from the network. This agreement defines what that endorsement requires and what both parties can expect from the relationship.
By submitting an application and accepting a listing on BTRN, the applying rescue organization agrees to the terms set out in this document. This agreement is reviewed and accepted at the time of application and renewed annually.
The Application and Approval Process
Rescue listings on BTRN are not automatic. Every organization goes through a manual review before being approved. Submitting an application does not guarantee listing.
As part of the application, rescues are required to provide:
- Organization name, primary contact name, and contact information
- Proof of 501(c)(3) status or equivalent nonprofit designation
- Geographic service area and transport capabilities
- A brief description of the organization's rescue process, including intake, vetting, and adoption practices
- References from at least two other rescue organizations or animal welfare professionals
BTRN reserves the right to request additional documentation during review. Applications that are incomplete, unverifiable, or raise concerns during review will not be approved. BTRN will notify applicants of approval or denial but is not obligated to provide detailed reasons for denial.
Partner Standards
Approved partners agree to maintain the following standards for the duration of their listing on BTRN.
2.1 Accurate Representation
All information on a rescue's BTRN profile must be accurate and kept current. This includes adoption requirements, geographic coverage, contact details, and organizational status. Available dog listings are pulled automatically from the rescue's own site, so partners are responsible for keeping their own listings accurate at the source. Partners must notify BTRN within 14 days of any material change to their organization, including changes to nonprofit status, primary contact, or service area.
2.2 Responsiveness
Rescues listed on BTRN are expected to be responsive organizations. When someone finds your rescue through the directory and reaches out through your own channels, they deserve a timely reply. BTRN has no way to track or enforce response times directly, but a rescue that consistently ignores inquiries is not serving the dogs or the people trying to help them. If your organization is temporarily at capacity or not accepting applications, notify BTRN so your profile reflects that.
2.3 Ethical Placement Practices
Partner rescues agree to place dogs only through a vetted adoption process. This includes at minimum an application, a reference check, and a home assessment where appropriate. BTRN does not dictate a rescue's specific process, but partners may not place dogs without any screening whatsoever.
2.4 Forum Conduct
Rescue representatives who participate in the BTRN Forum are subject to the Forum Code of Conduct in addition to this agreement. Verified rescue status does not exempt an organization from forum standards. In fact, given the trust the community places in listed rescues, conduct on the forum is held to a higher standard.
2.5 Honest Communication
Partners agree to represent dogs honestly, including known health conditions, behavioral history, and special needs. Misrepresenting a dog to facilitate a placement is grounds for immediate delisting.
Use of BTRN Branding
Approved partners in good standing may identify themselves as BTRN network partners on their own websites and materials. Permitted use includes:
- Displaying the BTRN logo with the designation “BTRN Network Partner”
- Linking to bullterrierrescuenetwork.com from their own site
- Referencing their BTRN listing in their own organizational materials
The following uses are not permitted:
- Implying that BTRN endorses specific dogs, events, or fundraising campaigns
- Using the BTRN name or logo in any way that could suggest BTRN is a co-operator of the rescue
- Continuing to display BTRN branding after a listing has been suspended or terminated
BTRN may update its branding guidelines at any time. Partners will be notified and given 30 days to update their materials accordingly.
Suspension and Delisting
BTRN takes the quality of its network seriously. When a partner rescue falls short of the standards in this agreement, BTRN will act to protect the integrity of the network and the safety of the dogs it serves.
4.1 Suspension
A rescue listing may be suspended when BTRN identifies a potential violation of this agreement that warrants investigation, or when a rescue is temporarily unable to meet its obligations. During suspension, the rescue's profile will not be visible to the public. BTRN will notify the rescue of the suspension and the reason for it, and will allow the rescue an opportunity to respond within 14 days.
4.2 Delisting
A rescue may be permanently delisted for any of the following:
- Repeated or unresolved violations of the partner standards in Section 2
- Misrepresentation of a dog's health, history, or behavioral profile
- Loss of nonprofit status without notification to BTRN
- Conduct on the BTRN Forum that results in a permanent ban
- Any action that endangers the welfare of a dog or an adopter
- Failure to respond to a suspension notice within 14 days
Delisting is permanent. A delisted organization may not reapply to BTRN.
4.3 Appeal
A rescue that believes a suspension or delisting was applied in error may submit a written appeal to BTRN within 14 days of the action. Appeals are reviewed by a second administrator. The outcome of an appeal is final.
BTRN's Responsibilities
This agreement is a two-way commitment. In exchange for meeting the partner standards above, BTRN agrees to:
- Maintain an accurate and visible listing for the rescue on bullterrierrescuenetwork.com
- Route relevant inquiries and traffic to the rescue's profile and contact channels
- Provide reasonable notice before making changes to partner requirements or this agreement
- Handle suspension and delisting decisions fairly and with an opportunity to respond
- Protect partner contact information and not share it with third parties without consent
Changes to This Agreement
BTRN may update the terms of this agreement as the network grows. Partners will be notified of material changes at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued participation in the network after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
If a partner does not agree to updated terms, they may request to end their listing by contacting BTRN directly. Listings will be removed within 7 days of such a request.
Partner Acknowledgment
By submitting an application, the authorized representative of the applying rescue organization confirms that they have read this agreement, have authority to bind their organization to its terms, and agree to comply with all partner standards for the duration of their listing on the Bull Terrier Rescue Network.
